On June 23rd, Governor Perdue signed HB 36 into law. This piece of legislation requires ALL North Carolina counties, cities, and employers, with 25 employees or more, to use the Federal E-Verify program to verify the eligibility of newly hired employees to work in the United States. This legislation exempts seasonal temporary workers who are employed for 90 or fewer days in one year.
