The Youth Organizing component works to foster advocacy, civic participation and engagement of Latino youth at local, state and national levels and emphasize the importance of young Latino representation in the political process. Youth learn about their role in social change and how to be participatory members in their community by engaging in civic activities such as peer-to-peer training sessions on civics and advocacy, experiential learning opportunities to organize and support different components of El Pueblo’s advocacy efforts, and conducting legislative visits at the state and national levels. Youth meet regularly to discuss, strategize and take action on issues affecting Latino youth and the general Latino community in the state, such as equal access to higher education for all students and other immigration issues.
