Mujer Sana

Mujer Sana targets uninsured and underinsured new immigrant Latinas through culturally and linguistically-appropriate comprehensive efforts raising awareness about the prevention of gynecological cancers and highlighting the importance of early detection of cervical and ovarian cancer and HPV. Mujer Sana offers outreach and education, informs Latinas about the importance of early detection of this virus and illnesses, connects them to local clinics so they can get tested and helps them navigate the health care system.

Glaxo Smith Kline

Through community charlas or talks, Mujer Sana disseminates messages about the importance of early detection of this virus and these types of cancers to Latinas living in the following counties: Caswell, Chatham, Durham, Edgecombe, Franklin, Granville, Harnett, Johnston, Nash, Orange, Person, Wake and Vance – as a way of complementing our Comunidad Sana Program, which works in all of these counties on breast cancer early detection efforts. Mujer Sana has been funded through a grant from GlaxoSmithKline.
