El Pueblo will March for Justice on February 12, 2011

As a HKonJ partner, we invite you to join us on February 12, 2011 as we come together and march for justice along the NC NAACP and other partner organizations. This year HKonJ aims to emphasize three pressing issues: Educational Equality; Economic Justice & Empowerment; and Equal Protection Under the Law. The 12th point of the People's Agenda demands the protection of immigrants' rights by urging NC to provide immigrants with health care, education, workers rights and protection from discrimination. With a united voice of organizations working together for social justice, we will say: "Forward Together. Not One Step Back!" For more information contact: nayely@elpueblo.org or visit www.hkonj.com

foro

This spring, El Pueblo, Inc. is collaborating with AMEXCAN (http://www.amexcannc.org) and other Hispanic leaders in Eastern North Carolina to hold the annual "Foro Latino". The 2011 Latino Issues Forum is planned for mid-April and will take place in Greenville. The theme of this year's forum is "Know your rights, you have the power to make a difference in your life". The Foro Latino attracts about 300 people annually from all over the state, half of whom are youth who come to share information and organize around healthy life styles, leadership and civic engagement. The Youth Foro's programming combines well with adult workshops which this year are targeted for Hispanics in Eastern North Carolina who are interested in information that will help them improve their lives and empower their community. The Foro Latino also welcomes sponsors and non-profit agencies interested in using the event as an outreach opportunity. For more details contact elpueblo@elpueblo.org.
