SexEd Film Festival and Advocacy Training
In February 2011, twelve youth from Our Rights Have No Borders program at El Pueblo, Inc. participated in the SexEd Film Festival hosted by the Adolescent Pregnancy Prevention Campaign of North Carolina (APPCNC) at the Varsity Theater in Chapel Hill, NC. The youth watched and discussed 3 films that offered different perspectives on sex education, health advocacy, and teen pregnancy. The day after this event, the youth participated in a day-long advocacy training session for youth, parents, and youth-serving professionals in reproductive health.

Youth Advocacy Day at the NC General Assembly

On March 2nd 2011, 7 youth from Our Rights Have No Borders program visited the NC General Assembly to participate in the Youth Advocacy Day 2011. This event addressed adolescent health issues, such as, pregnancy prevention, access to healthcare, and adolescent well-being. The youth had the opportunity to talk to legislators and their representatives about the importance of adolescent health.

Our Rights Have No Borders Program welcomes our fourth youth group! This youth group has been meeting at El Pueblo's office since February 2011. A group of 17 new youth between the ages of 10 to 14 years old are participating in several trainings about reproductive health and advocacy.
Our Rights Have No Borders is a reproductive health program for Latino youth living in Wake County with the mission of training Latino youth on sexual and reproductive health issues as well as building a movement of Latino youth activists that focus on reproductive health, advocacy, peer to peer education and media/communications. This program has been developed and implemented through a collaborative effort between El Pueblo, Inc. and Ipas with funding from Z. Smith Reynolds Foundation.
