Distributed more than 38,000 copies of printed material to educate people on traffic safety.
Presented at more than 20 events on topics regarding proper use of seat belts and the dangers of drunk driving.
Collaborated with Spanish Media to promote traffic safety.
Celebrated Hispanic heritage with La Fiesta del Pueblo, attracting over 7,000 festival goers.
Collaborated with the Mexican Consulate to promote healthy living practices and provide information on access to low cost health care. Individual counseling given to over 4,000 people.
Answered over 5,000 calls for information, giving advice and referrals on immigration, access to health care, domestic disputes, financial assistance, employment, education, cultural events and public safety.
Trained over 400 individuals on immigration issues, stressing civic engagement and action.
Maintained an active communication network with over 800 individuals regarding events in the legislature. Provided them with talking points and ways to promote change.
Met with 12 elected officials and their staffs to discuss individual pieces of legislation
Provided information to over 950 victims of domestic violence, directing them to resources near their homes. Implemented a state wide campaign in Spanish to increase awareness of the problem.
Met with over 1,800 women about breast cancer awareness, ways to check themselves and information on access to sonograms.
Provided intensive reproductive health training to over 100 Hispanic youth.
Promoted health at six fairs throughout the region. Combined attendance over 15,000.
Developed seven "fotonovelas" on parent education, dealing with prenatal care, nutrition, labor, breastfeeding and practical living issues.
Raised awareness of the dangers of smoking among Latino youth. Trained over 100 leaders to model healthy behaviors and encourage peers to lead healthy lifestyles. Participated in several festivals with a total reach of over 10,000 people.
Provided 23 individual with the opportunity to do their community service in a friendly environment.
